FAQs
Question: How long does it take to sell a business?
Answer: The average time to sell a business is between 6 and 18 months. However, those businesses following the proprietary CBI Team system generally sell in 3 to 12 months.
Question: Why am I required to provide all the financial information at my first interview with a CBI Advisor?
Answer: Your time is valuable as is that of our CBI Team members. Just as when you go to a physician you provide your past medical history, the same is true for your first “official” meeting with a CBI Team Advisor. In order to help you determine the best way to help you prepare your business for sale the Advisor must have access to key information. Without it the Advisor can’t help you determine the answer to most business owner’s first question, “What is my business worth and can I sell it?’ Your Advisor will keep everything confidential but must have access to the information to help you. REMEMBER…the first consultation with your CBI Team Advisor is free. We want to make it worth your while and ours!
Question: What the fees you charge for selling a business?
Answer: That depends on the size and complexity of your business. Your CBI Team Advisor will share a proposed fee structure after your first meeting?
Question: Do you charge “Upfront Fees?”
Answer: Again, that depends on your individual business and what is involved in the preparation and sale.
Question: Some business brokers provide a “free” business valuation. Do you do that?
Answer: No, the CBI Team has learned that a “free” business valuation is worth exactly what you paid for it, zero. If your Advisor interviews you and then looks your business information over and recommends a valuation (and that does not happen unless your business will benefit from the valuation) then you will be asked to use an independent, third party, certified business appraisal firm so you will receive an unbiased appraisal on which you, the buyer and the lender may depend.
